2. COUNTRY THAT I WANT TO VISIT
The world is like a book and the man who never travels has only read a single page of the book. Keeping that anology in mind, I am always very keen to travel. You could say that I am a travel-oriented person. So far I have managed to visit a few countries in Southeast Asia, but if given a chance, I would love to set my foot on the soil in the Egypt, the land of mummies.
Firstly, yes, Egypt is indeed the land of mummies, but do you know that it is also known as the Cradle of Civilization? Thus, it is only fitting that in their lifetime. For that reason too I have long exercised the wish to travel to this nation. Egypt is said to be the gift of the River Nile to mankind. The ancient Egyptiant civilization first began and thrived on the banks of this mighty river. Even the papyrus plants which man first used to create paper were found here at the banks of the river until today., the plant could still be seen in abundance at the much shallower parts of the river. I am sure it will be a refreshing experience to witness for myself the ever flowing Nile and the sites of the ancient civilization there.
Secondly, Egypt also is the home to one of the world’s wonders – the pyramids. The idea of constructing the first pyramid was conceived by the Pharoah Zoser’s wise advisor, Imhotep. The Sakkra pyramid, the world’s oldest pyramid, was the brainchild of Imhotep. Since then, many a hundred pyramids were built for the great pharaohs of the nation. Till today, no engineer has been able to recreate an an exact replica of the pyramids and for this reason, the world has never failed to stand in awe of the pyramids. I would ever give up anything to be able to snap a photograph in front of one the three great pyramids of Giza. The pyramids are an architectural marvel which hopefully will stand the test of time and continue to entrance tourists all over the world.
Thirdly, Egypt has a very colourful history. No one can deny that. Throughout the ages, it has been home to many great kings and queens, though most of us would only remember the last queen of the civilization, Cleopatra., the sweetheart of Mark Anthony. Apart fom its intricate royal history which would keep a researcher busy for a lifetime, there is also Alexndria library which history claims as the world’s oldest library. Then, there is solid gold face mask of the boy king, Tuntankhamun, or a famously known as King Tut. It is until today preserved in the Egyptian National Musuem. What about the recently indentified mummy of one of the members of King Tut’s dynasty, the warrior queen Hatsheput? I have read about all these things and it would be a pleasure beyond words for a historical buff like me to see for myself these historical remains.
Lastly, Egypt is my own personal paradise. I say ‘paradisse’ because everything that I am passionate about could be found there. The brownish red pyramids, ancient ruins of temples dedicated to gods and goddesses lost in the pages of history and shrivelled mummies of once living kings. To be able to visit Egypt will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me and though I may not be able to afford the cost of the trip now, one day shalI see that to it that I set to foot in the land of my dream.
